Empowering Africa was the theme at the 16th ST Group Annual User Conference held on 15th September 2015
In the keynote address, James Brayshaw, VP for Location Intelligence at Pitney Bowes Software in EMEA, presented the case for the use of big data to provide business value in all of Africa. He gave several examples of how this data can improve a businessman’s insight when combined with the Location Intelligence tools available today.
There were presentations on the use of Location Intelligence in assessing the market potential of Satellite TV, the advances in Location Intelligence Technology on both the desktop and on the web, and how insight can be obtained by presenting complex concepts in reports in the insurance industry.
MapInfo Professional is a powerful Microsoft® Windows®-based mapping and geographic analysis application from the experts in location intelligence. Designed to easily visualize the relationships between data and geography, MapInfo Professional helps business analysts, planners, and GIS professionals - even non-GIS users - gain new insights into their markets, share information-rich maps and graphs and improve strategic decision-making.
Another main topic was data. The delegates heard how data, including big data, growth is exploding, how this data can be harnessed to deliver value, and how innovative treatment of data can lead to extraordinary results.
Delegates were treated to the tasty fare dished up at the Bytes Conference Centre and listened to the dulcet tones of Chillie and Lime at lunch and during the cocktail event, where there was a draw for four front-row seats at Madame Zingarra, including extra pocket money for drinks. Rudi from Lightstone was the winner!
